I received an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) advance. Does this affect my PPP forgiveness amount?

Your EIDL advance no longer affects your PPP loan forgiveness amount.  Originally, SBA guidelines said that borrowers had to deduct any EIDL advance amount they received from their overall loan forgiveness amount. But a new law enacted as of December 27, 2020 states that EIDL is no longer deducted from a borrower's forgiveness amount.

If you previously submitted a forgiveness application and received partial forgiveness, but went into repayment due to an EIDL being deducted from your forgiveness amount, the SBA guidance states that your EIDL will no longer reduce the amount of PPP forgiveness to which you’re entitled. You can expect that any amount previously deducted from your forgiveness amount for EIDL will be credited to your account. Scratch will contact you via email as soon as we have an update on how this credit will be processed.

If you have any questions about your EIDL advance, you will need to contact your closest SBA Regional Office, which you can find by searching your business’ zip code here.
